We are seeking an experienced Head Chef to lead our catering team base in a remote mine site environment on a Full-Time basis. We have several current opportunities with various mine site clients which are FIFO from Brisbane, Gold Coast or Sunshine Coast.
Reporting to the Site/Village Manager, showcase your culinary skills in a dynamic remote mining environment while providing leadership to the catering team, ensuing high-quality meals and positive on-site dining experience for residents.
The Position
- Lead and manage the catering team, ensuring smooth and efficient kitchen and dining operations.
- Deliver catering services and menu as per contractual commitments.
- Develop and create diverse and nutritious menus in accordance that cater to various dietary requirements, including periodical menu planning and implementation.
- Oversee food preparation, cooking, and presentation to maintain high standards of quality and hygiene.
- Manage inventory, including ordering, stocking, and controlling food costs.
- Train and mentor catering team members to foster a positive and productive work environment.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including food safety standards.
- Work closely with Village Managers to meet client expectations and execute special events or themed meals.
Minimum Criteria:
- Ability to undertake regular travel to site on a DIDO/FIFO roster.
- Ability to work in a remote and physically demanding environment.
- Proven experience as a Head Chef, preferably in high-volume catering or remote village operations.
- Exceptional culinary skills with a creative flair for menu development in a bulk cooking environment.
- Ability to effectively manage, develop and train the catering team.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to consult with the client and key stakeholders.
- A proactive and solutions-focused approach to ensure kitchen operations run smoothly.
- Strong knowledge and application of food safety and hygiene regulations.
- Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (essential).
- Safe Food Handling Certificate (desired).
- Current Coal Board Medical and Pre-Employment Functional Assessment or willing to obtain as part of the pre-employment process.
- Current Standard 11 Certificate or willing to obtain.
